KZN Chess Academy is a registered Non-Profit Organization and FIDE Academy founded in 2015 by National Master Erick Takawira as a platform to teach and promote chess to all communities in KwaZulu Natal.

Our mission is to “develop young minds” by using chess as a tool of learning and achieving life skills. we empower people and uplift communities by teaching skills necessary to succeed in life through Chess educational and training programmes. Since we started, thousands have been trained through our various programmes.

We run a number of programs which include Chess in School, Chess in the Community, Chess for Girls, Club Development, Social Action and Talent Identification & High Performance. We also run tournaments and conduct Chess camps for school kids and workshops/clinics for teachers, coaches and arbiters.
